June 6th: Western Wall

This morning, we went to the Western Wall, which is an extremely holy place in Judaism. As we approached, Etai played us a very powerful recording of Israeli soldiers singing Hatikva and Shehecheyanu when seeing the Western Wall for the first time. Our first view of the Western Wall was breath-taking.

After spending some time praying in front of the Western Wall, we had the incredible experience of traveling along the tunnels underneath the Western Wall. I found it fascinating that we were stepping on the same stones that people have been walking along for the last 2,000 years. It was truly surreal to see the part in the tunnels that is the closest to the former Temple.

Today was a very busy day filled with a lot of activities and site-seeing. All of the historical claims to Jerusalem were fascinating to learn about and really thought-provoking. To me, however, the Western Wall was the highlight of the day.

Hi Mom, Dad, and everybody else in my family who is reading this blog.
